The R1 train along the Maresme coast is genuinely pleasant — it runs beside the sea — but the airport is not on it. It means the shuttle to Sants, the R1 north, and a walk or taxi from Calella station with the cases. The tour-operator coach goes to the door but visits half a dozen hotels on the way and leaves when it leaves, not when you land. A private car does the door-to-door at your flight's time.
Calella, Pineda, Santa Susanna, Malgrat
Four towns in a row on the same road, sharing a beach and a railway line, and between them most of the holiday hotels north of Barcelona. Calella is the largest and the one with the town centre; Pineda de Mar runs into it without a gap; Santa Susanna is the newer hotel strip beyond, and Malgrat de Mar rounds off the run before the road climbs into Blanes.
We serve all four at fixed fares. Calella and Pineda are priced together. Santa Susanna and Malgrat are a little further and a little more, which the price table shows rather than surprising you with on the day. Name the hotel when you book and the chauffeur goes to its door.

How the drive goes
About 55 minutes for roughly 70 km. From the airport the route runs around Barcelona on the ring road and then up the C-32 motorway along the coast, coming off at Calella. From central Barcelona it is closer to 45 minutes.
The C-32 is a toll road and the toll is not in the fare — it is the one variable, and it is a few euros. Summer weekends add time in both directions as the coast fills and empties; the fare does not change with the clock.
Further up the coast
Beyond Malgrat the road crosses the Tordera river and the Costa Brava proper begins at Blanes, fifteen minutes on, with Lloret de Mar and Tossa de Mar beyond that. Each has its own page and its own row in the price table. The Costa Brava page covers the coast as a whole.

Is the train from the airport to Calella easy?
It is cheap and the R1 runs along the sea, but the airport is not on the line. You take the shuttle to Sants first, then the R1 north for about an hour and a quarter, then get from Calella station to your hotel. With luggage that is three legs. A private car is one.
Our package includes a coach transfer. Why book a car?
The coach leaves when it leaves and stops at several hotels before yours; two hours is normal. If you are landing late, travelling with small children, or simply want to be at the hotel within the hour, a car timed to your flight is what you are paying for.
Do you carry child seats?
Yes. Child, baby and booster seats are fitted before the car is dispatched — ask when you book. Pushchairs travel in the boot; mention them so the vehicle is sized for them alongside the cases.
